Council Commitment

Three-Year Term

Members of the councils are nominated to serve for a three-year term and are elected as part of the annual meeting for members. Representatives to the Council may also be nominated and approved by the Board of Directors during the year. Council meetings occur at least four times per year in each region. The councils also provide direction related to specific programming for the region.

Additionally, regional councils make advocacy recommendations to the Arizona Forward Board on issues in the region related to mobility and air quality, land use, water supplies, forest health, healthy communities, climate action or urban waterway restorations.

Issues that have been addressed by our regional councils include:

  • Rio Reimagined
  • Santa Cruz River Restoration
  • Bus Rapid Transit
  • Light Rail
  • Forest Health
  • Canalscape
  • Council and Mayoral Candidate forums related to sustainability
