Today’s Challenges & Tomorrow’s Solutions for Arizona’s Forests

Arizona forests make up 27% of the state. They provide the headwaters for Arizona’s streams and contribute to Arizona’s diverse economy – historically through logging and today through recreation. Today’s forests are challenged by unhealthy conditions and an extended fire season due to climate change. This results in uncharacteristically severe wildfires. Solutions to our forest challenges include changes to policy at the local and national levels, partnerships with private industry, monetizing carbon offsets, as well as support from corporations and municipalities.
