THIS IS FOR ARIZONA FORWARD MEMBERS ONLY.
Serve on a new event committee
The Arizona Forward Healthy Communities Committee has been working diligently on the Canalscape project for many months. As part of that effort, we are excited to announce a partnership with the Phoenix Mural Project to host a mural festival between 17th Street and 15th Avenue along the Grand Canal in March 2020. Murals have the potential to help define neighborhoods, buildings, wayfinding, create social hubs and may help to reduce crime.
We need your help.
The mural festival will require many hands before and after the event. Since this is a community-based activity, we are extending an invitation to Arizona Forward’s membership to participate in one or more of the following:
- Join a Mural Project Event Committee to help with planning and organizing.
- Provide ideas for additional volunteers outside of our membership, potential sponsors and grant opportunities for experienced artists, supplies and event support.
The festival will feature live painting from local artists hired by each resident. Participants and the public will be encouraged to visit the area by walking or bicycling along the canal. Initial discussions suggest that Brophy College Preparatory, Phoenix Central High, Xavier Preparatory and St. Francis, may also get students involved in a public art piece on their property between 7th Street and Central Ave. The day will be an effort to unite communities and people.
