ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY, GLOBAL INSTITUTE OF SUSTAINABILITY

The education outreach programs at the Global Institute of Sustainability (GIOS) focus primarily on sustainability science education. The objectives of these programs are to link the community with emerging science and social science research projects at GIOS and ASU. We use best teaching practices to engage local students and their teachers on conducting scientific investigations and sustainability projects at their schools and in their neighborhoods. We offer summer internships, workshops and web-based material for teachers as well as direct assistance in the classroom. Our two main programs are Ecology Explorers and Sustainable Science for Sustainable Schools, both funded by the National Science Foundation.
